Description

The villa is situated in Casaglia, a small village close to San Gimignano, in Valdelsa, just a few kilometres from Poggibonsi. Florence, Siena, Colle Val d`Elsa, Certaldo, Volterra and the villages of the Florentine and Sienese Chianti region are within easy car reach for pleasant one-day trips.

Immersed in the countryside north of Siena, the building dates back to the 12th century and in the origin was a church. In the course of the centuries, the church was deconsecrated and converted into a sighting tower and in a place for peasant feasts prior to being transformed into a villa.

The villa has been renovated with an eye to preserving its original structure and using local building materials, and features element typical of the Tuscan peasant houses, such as terracotta-tiled and wood-beamed ceilings. The house is furnished in comfortable Tuscan style.


The Outdoors

The building is surrounded by a garden rich in cypresses and furnished with tables, chairs and a concrete barbecue.

About 200 metres from the building, on a gentle hill at the back of the house lies the private swimming pool (7x14 m; depth: 1.50 m), reserved to the exclusive use of the guests. The swimming pool is open from May to October. The pool side is equipped with sunshades, sun loungers, deck chairs, a table and a shower.


Accommodation

The villa sleeps 6 guests in 2 double-bedded rooms and 1 room with two single beds, and 2 bathrooms.

The living room/kitchen on the ground floor has direct access to the garden. The kitchen area is fully equipped and the living room area is furnished with satellite TV, DVD/CD player, sofa bed and armchairs.
On the ground floor are also a double-bedded room with direct access to the garden, a laundry room with washing machine and ironing equipment and a bathroom with shower.
On the upper floor, which is accessed through a wooden stair, are a double-bedded room, a room with two single beds and a bathroom with shower.


Facilities

The villa is provided with swimming pool, barbecue, wood-burning oven, air conditioning, satellite TV, DVD/CD player, oven, microwave oven, American-style coffee maker, toaster, fridge, freezer, electric grill, dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board.

The rent includes the weekly change of towels (including swimming pool towels), bed and kitchen linen.

At guests` disposal: a cot bed and a high chair (to be requested at booking).

The nearest town is Poggibonsi (6 km).

A riding stable is within a few kilometres from the villa. The Golf Club Castelfalfi and Florence Golf Club Ugolino are easily reached by car. Guests can rent bicycles and motor-scooters in San Gimignano. Bowling in Poggibonsi and possibility of booking tennis courts at the Tennis Club Staggia Senese.
