Description

The villa (10 sleeping accommodations) was build at the end of the 16th century and was originally used for defensive purposes. It stands about 2 kilometres from Monterchi, a small town renowned all over the world for the famous fresco "Madonna del Parto" by Piero della Francesca, and due to its geographical position at the border between the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal States, in the past was the theatre of numerous battles. In fact, in the villa are still visible the ancient arrow slits the soldiers used to hit the enemies and many weapons have been found in the building. The villa has been recently renovated respecting the characteristic structure of Tuscan countryside houses.


Accommodation

The complex (5 double bedrooms and 5 bathrooms) composes of the two-storey villa and the adjacent tower.

The ground floor of the villa is divided into fully equipped kitchen, living/dining room with fireplace and satellite TV and reading room with hi-fi system. The first floor consists in 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin-bedded rooms. All bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom with shower. One of the two twin-bedded rooms can be transformed into a double bedroom upon request.

The tower has an independent entrance. On the ground floor there are a small living room and 1 bathroom with shower. The first floor consists in 1 double bedroom, which can be transformed into a twin-bedded room. The panoramic terrace atop the tower is furnished with a table and some chairs.


Facilities

The villa is provided with swimming pool (11x6 m), barbecue equipment, kitchenware, microwave oven, toaster, American coffee machine, satellite TV, telephone, hi-fi system, air conditioning (additional charges apply) and hairdryer. Two baby cots are at guests` disposal. Possibility of organising a Valtiberina tour for free upon request.
