Elegant 14th-century villa on the hills around Florence, in proximity to Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria. Sleeps 12/15. Swimming pool, Internet connection, air conditioning.
Description
Have wonderful holidays made of relaxation and culture in the green Tuscan countryside, just a few minutes from Ponte Vecchio, in Florence.
The villa dates back the 14th century; originally it was part of an estate that included a master`s villa surrounded by a gorgeous Italian garden, and was used as guestrooms and hunting lodge.
The villa is situated in a historical district of Florence, in an area called "Paradiso degli Alberti" (which owes its name to the famous architect Leon Battista Alberti, who lived there), along an ancient road connecting Florence to the Chianti region.
The estate is situated on the hills in the outskirts of Florence: Ponte Vecchio is only about 3 kilometres away (5 minutes by car and 25 minutes on foot).
Guests can relax by the private swimming pool surrounded by olive and fruit trees, enjoying the company of squirrels and pheasants, while being at a short distance from the architectural beauties and museums of the wonderful Florence (which are easily reached with a 25-minute walk or a 5-minute drive).
In winter, guests can relax by the working Tuscan pietra serena sandstone fireplace in an old-time atmosphere.
The Outdoors
The villa is surrounded by a wide garden with olive and fruit trees decorated with ancient terracotta pots; there lies the private swimming pool, furnished with deck chairs.
The garden is furnished with outdoor tables and chairs for guests to have their breakfast al fresco or to arrange a romantic dinner surrounded by squirrels and pheasants.
Accommodation
The property (sleeping 12+3) includes the main villa and an annex.
The main villa sleeps 10+1 guests in 5 bedrooms (3 of them have an ensuite bathroom) and 1 sofa bed in the living room.
The bedrooms are wide and can be arranged either with double or single beds, according to the guests` needs.
The annex (sleeping 2+2) is located in the estate and composes of kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom with single beds (it can be transformed into a double-bedded room) and a double sofa bed.
In the event that guests decide not to use the annex, it will remain vacant. The guests living in the main villa will thus be granted the exclusive use of the outdoors.
Facilities
The villa is provided with garden, swimming pool (5x10 m - maximum depth: 2 m) partly suitable for kids, wireless Internet connection, air conditioning in two bedrooms and possibility of using portable air conditioners, washing machine, dishwasher, satellite TV, microwave oven, working fireplace, 2 bicycles. House maid and babysitting services are available upon request.
Services
Restaurants, banks, and shops of any kind are about 500 metres from the villa.
Car is not essential: a bus stop is within 30 metres of the entry of the estate.
A supermarket in the vicinity of the villa provides a cheap home delivery service with orders placed through the Internet.
Florence main railway station, Santa Maria Novella, can be reached by bus or by taxi; an excellent bus service connects the villa to Florence second railway station, Campo di Marte, which is reached with a 10 minute drive as well.

Ponte Vecchio is about 3 kilometres from the villa (5 minutes by car or 25 minutes on foot).

We loved the location, which was both close enough to central Florence to make it easy to see museums and go to restaurants and far enough away to allow us some real peace and relaxation. We loved the pool! It was great to have so much space and so many lovely bathrooms, so that all the couples who were there had real privacy. The kitchen is also very well-appointed and usable. The only downside is that there's no air-conditioning except for in the bedrooms. So you're comfortable at night, which is great, but in the daytime it was a little hot.
Beautiful place, amazing holiday
Spacious villa with beautiful garden for relaxing and playing, very welcoming and helpful, and the resident in the main house is very kind and so knowledgeable about the history of the property and Florence. The villa had plenty of room for our group of 9 and we loved cooking and eating outdoors.
