How much time is needed to visit Pisa?
It is difficult to give an exact answer. The correct reply to this question is another question: what are the things to see and to do when you are on vacations in Pisa?
You can choose among various solutions: from a romantic (long) weekend to some relaxing weeks in one of the many tourist accommodations scattered in this part of Tuscany: villas in Pisa, villas in the outskirts of Pisa, typical Tuscan country villas...
The first solution is perfect for young couples.
Here are some tips for those who identify themselves with this identikit. You could spend the morning visiting Piazza dei Miracoli and its monuments and at sunset you could do a mini-cruise and dine on the Arno River.
The second solution could turn to be an excellent one for large families spending their holidays with relatives and friends. In this case you could form separate groups: husbands and children could go to the sea (read the chapter of this guide dedicated to Tirrenia and Marina di Pisa), whereas the wives could stay in town and dedicate to shopping in Borgo Stretto and Corso Italia.
Or you could do a pleasant one-day trip at the discovery of Volterra and the Val di Cecina, or to Lari and the Castello dei Vicari.
One thing is certain: however short or long your stay in Pisa may be, you will be inevitably captured by its beauty, its history and its inhabitants. Indeed it is not by chance that UNESCO has declared Piazza di Miracoli a World Heritage site.
