There is an appointment you absolutely cannot miss! Especially if you love reading and you are on holidays in Pisa in autumn. It is Pisa Book Festival.

An event dedicated to the independent publishing industry, the Festival was created in 2003 and since then it has taken place every year in the first half of October.

Since its creation the festival has constantly improved both in quantity and in quality, and nowadays attracts to Pisa more than 150 publishing houses and 30,000 visitors, who are involved in presentations of books, workshops, professional seminars and cultural events.

In the latest years, Pisa Book Junior has been taken place together with Pisa Book Festival, and the events are now held in two venues: the Palazzo dei Congressi (opposite Ponte alla Vittoria, in Lungarno Bruno Buozzi) and the Stazione Leopolda (in Piazza Guerrazzi, on the other bank of the Arno).

The bond that links the two venues is not only a symbolic one: in fact, a shuttle train carries tourists and visitors from the Palazzo dei Congressi to the Stazione Leopolda and vice versa passing next to the palaces and villas of this charming corner of Pisa.
