Pisa Airport
Taking a plane to Galileo Galilei International Airport is by far the easiest way to make it to Pisa - especially if you are travelling from abroad. The airport is about one kilometre from the town centre; it is well connected to Pisa Centrale railway station; and it takes no more than five minutes to make it to the town centre. Moreover, all the major Italian, foreign and low-cost airlines fly to Galileo Galilei International Airport.
Travelling by car, the town of the Leaning Tower is reached from north-west via the A12 motorway, from Florence and the Tuscan hinterland via the Firenze-Pisa-Livorno expressway or the A11 motorway, and from south via the SS1 Aurelia or the A1 motorway plus the Firenze-Pisa-Livorno expressway.
As far as the train is concerned, Pisa Centrale railway station is connected to Florence (where most of the national high-speed trains stop), but you can get to Pisa also travelling from Rome Termini.
Do not forget that many busses coming from southern Italy stop in Pisa.
