After having bought cushions, T-shirts, aprons, the miniature reproduction of the Leaning Tower and other similar souvenirs for your relatives and friends... it is time to dedicate to yourself and organise a day of shopping!

Thanks to the suggestions and advice of those who have already spent their holidays in this town, we have written out a short and pleasant itinerary: a trip in the narrow streets and squares, surrounded by the palaces and villas of Pisa, at the discovery of the local handicrafts and food-and-wine specialities.

The first stop of our tour is Borgo stretto, in the district of Tramontana, north of the Arno. There you will find bookstores, jewellers`, clothes shops, and much more. It is considered one of the most elegant Pisan streets.

Cross the river and you are in the district of Mezzogiorno. Behind Piazza XX Settembre begins Corso Italia, another street full of clothes and gift shops.

You cannot certainly miss Pisa street markets! The main one is in Via Paparelli. The street market in Piazza delle Vettovaglie is especially renowned for its titbit stalls.

Last but not least, once a month in various areas of the town take place some antique street market, where you can really strike bargains.
