“Standing in a large green expanse, Piazza del Duomo houses a group of monuments known the world over. These four masterpieces of medieval architecture – the cathedral, the baptistry, the campanile (the `Leaning Tower`) and the cemetery – had a great influence on monumental art in Italy from the 11th to the 14th century”.

This is how the United Nation Education, Science and Culture Organization (better known under the acronym UNESCO) describes Piazza or Campo dei Miracoli, a place that in 1987 was declared World Heritage site for its extraordinary beauty.

The complex is situated in the district of Santa Maria, on the north-western edge of Pisa historic centre, certainly one of the areas that the tourists looking for holiday houses and villas in Pisa like the most. And every single monument represents a phase of man`s life on earth: from the Baptistery - a synonym of birth - to the cemetery - the place where the dead rest.
