Mens Sana Basket
A branch of the oldest Sienese sporting club - the Polisportiva Mens Sana in Corpore Sano, founded in 1871 -, Siena basket team has dominated the Italian basketball panorama in the last few years.
From the 2000/2001 season, when it won the European Cup Winners` Cup, Mens Sana has won various Italian championships, Italian national cups and supercups, and more than once qualified for Euroleague (the former European Champions` Cup).
But success is not limited to the first team: actually Mens Sana youth teams have gained an important role both in Italy and Europe as well.

Associazione Calcio Siena
It has the colours of the city`s coat of arms, black and white, and in 2004 celebrated its hundredth anniversary: at the end of the 2002-2003 season Associazione Calcio Siena (the name appeared in 1933-1934) gained a memorable promotion in Serie A, while the year before had risked to be relegated to Serie C. The team remained in Serie A until the 2009-2010 season, at the end of which was relegated to Serie B.
