According to some historical documents, Villa Gerini already existed in the 14th century, when it was classified as an interurban residence. At that time the villa belonged to the Cappelli family.
The Capponi family acquired the villa around the half of the 17th century and then left it to the Del Benino family. The villa acquired its present name in the second half of the 19th century, when Marquis Carlo Gerini acquired it.
Apart from the above mentioned transfers of properties, the villa has been renovated several times and its present aspect is the result of the works the Gerini family commissioned in the 19th century.
In the 19th century, the vegetable gardens and the fields that originally surrounded the villa were transformed into the gorgeous park that can be admired today. The park features an artificial lake, where a pavilion used as a tea-room was built on two islets.
