In the 15th century Villa Baldini Dufour-Berte belonged to the Petrucci family. At present, the villa is also known as "Villa Paolina", in honour of Paolina Bonaparte, one of Napoleon`s sisters, who married Camillo Borghese and bought the estate in 1825.
Paolina herself commissioned engineer Antonio Carcopino to renovate the villa in 1826. The works terminated in 1831 and the building was enlarged and transformed into a magnificent residence surrounded by a wide park. Still today a wooden and cast-iron bridge links the villa to the wood at the rear.
The rooms of the villa are furnished with original pieces of furniture and decorated with original china, wallpaper and carpets. The villa houses interesting paintings and frescoes along with important historical documents.
