Situated in the centre of Pontedera, Villa Crastan was built in recent times: architect Arrighi projected it in 1928 together with its owner, Manlio Crastan, who was member of a Swiss family that had moved to Italy.
The Neo-Renaissance building is accessed through an imposing gate by Luigi Bellincioni, an architect who was very active in the province of Pisa.
A wide park decorated with statues, pergolas and other architectonic elements surrounds the building. The small grotto in the garden of the villa is paved with an authentic Roman mosaic, which was accidentally discovered at the half of the 19th century in an agricultural estate in Populonia.
