Like many other Tuscan villas, Villa Fabbricotti boasts Medicean origins: indeed, it was probably built by order of Ferdinando de` Medici as an interurban residence.
Thomas Lloyd sold it to Bernardo Fabbricotti in 1881. Fabbricotti commissioned its refurbishment and the restructuring of the park to the famous architect Vincenzo Micheli.
Statues and busts representing celebrities of Tuscan history, science and art decorated the pathways and the flowerbeds in the park, which was scattered with pines, holm-oaks, magnolias, cypresses and exotic plants.
During World War II the estate, consisting in the villa, two farmhouses and several appurtenances, became the headquarters of the German and then of the American commands.
