In the 19th century Galgano Chigi decided to build a prestigious villa surrounded by a wide park; that is how Villa Chigi Saracini in Castelnuovo Berardenga was born.

The villa stands right at the entrance of Castelnuovo Berardenga and its construction caused many important changes in the road system of the area as well as the demolition of part of the castle ramparts.

The complex consists in the villa, which, as the cadastral maps of the time demonstrate, was built before 1825, the park and a chapel dating back to 1840. The projects of the park and the chapel are by Agostino Fantastici.

In front of the villa there is a Neoclassical Kaffehaus, which separates the Italian garden from the park. Apart a great variety of long-stemmed trees, the park features also a series of statues representing famous musicians, which Count Guido Saracini, the founder of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, commissioned to the Sienese sculptor Tito Sarrocchi.

At the back of the villa a fountain by Sarrocchi is to be admired, while a carriageable three-arch bridge connects the complex with the nearby San Quirico hill.
