Situated in the hamlet of San Gusmè, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, Villa Arceno was built around 1671 by order of Flaminio del Taja; the Piccolomini Clementini family acquired it at the beginning of the 19th century.
The gorgeous park surrounding the magnificent three-storey building featuring a pigeon-house on the roof was realised around 1833 by Agostino Fantastici, who more or less in the same time projected the garden for the neighbouring Villa Chigi Saracini.
The numerous pathways leading to an artificial pond surrounded by the nymphaeum and the so-called "casa delle barche" (the house of the boats) stretch among specimens of long-stemmed trees, such as sequoias, palmettos, oaks, pines and carpines.
In the park there are also a statue of Marsyas, a small Doric temple with a statue representing Pandora, an obelisk and a second nymphaeum.
