According to a document dating back to 1593, at that time Villa Torrigiani belonged to the Buonvisi family; then Nicolao Santini, the ambassador of the Republic of Lucca in France, purchased it. Probably fascinated by Versailles architecture, at the end of the 17th century Santini ordered that the southern façade of the villa be refurbished in baroque style.
The Torrigiani family acquired the villa in 1816, when Vittoria Santini married Pietro Guadagni, who had taken his mother`s name in order to inherit her patrimony.
The villa presents a polychrome façade realised with different materials and is surrounded by a gorgeous park. The park we admire today is the result of the 19th-century restoration of the garden realised by the Santini family in 1650. Among the various statues, fountains and plays of water, the most interesting element in the park is the "Ninfeo dei venti" (nymphaeum of the winds), decorated with statues representing the winds.
