Greve in Chianti is a municipality of Florentine Chianti situated along the so-called "via Chiantigiana", that is, the road that links Florence and Siena passing through the picturesque Chianti region. The town stands in an ideal geographical position: not only is it immersed in a charming corner of the Tuscan countryside; it is also well located to easily reach some of the most famous Tuscan cities of art: Florence, Siena and Arezzo. That is why Greve is an excellent destination for a holiday in Tuscany.
Situated right at the junction of an important road, Greve was born as a commercial and market town. The picturesque triangular square surrounded by loggias around which developed the city centre is still an extremely lively place.
The streets in the centre of Greve are full of shops selling Chianti specialities, where you can taste some typical products. If you are an art lover, you can visit the Museo di Arte Sacra (museum of sacred art) in the ex-monastery of San Francesco.
The Chianti countryside that surrounds Greve is dotted with picturesque hamlets: groups of small stone houses and paved narrow streets, such as Montefioralle and Panzano, which are certainly worth a visit. A lodging in the Chianti region, in one of the hamlets in the neighbourhood of Greve may be an excellent starting point for an unforgettable holiday.
