Museum of Sacred Art in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa
The museum is the result of the co-operation of various institutions (the Municipality of Tavernelle Val di Pesa, the parishes of San Pietro and Santa Lucia in Tavarnelle, Florence Diocesan Curia, Florence Superintendences and the regional administration).
The museum is located in the vicarage of San Pietro in Bossolo and preserves works of art and documents coming from the churches scattered in the neighbourhood. Many interesting paintings by Neri di Bicci, Lorenzo di Bicci, Jacopo da Empoli, Giovanni Montini and others are to be admired, together with a collection of silver canonicals (an ostensory dating back to the early 18th century, a 15th-century chalice and other church furnishings produced in famous Florentine silversmith`s workshops).
Antiquarium in Sant`Appiano - Barberino Val d`Elsa
Inaugurated in 1991, the small Antiquarium museum is situated in the rooms annexed to the parish church of Sant`Appiano, on a hill a few kilometres south-west of Barberino Val d`Elsa.
The museum consists of two rooms where archaeological finds discovered in the neighbourhood are exposed.
Museum of Sacred Art in Greve in Chianti
The Franciscan monastery was built in the 15th century in the place of an ancient hospital situated along the old road connecting the "Mercatale", the place where the market was held, of Greve with the castle of Montefioralle. After having been recently renovated, the monastery has now been transformed into the Museum of Sacred Art, with a section dedicated to archaeology.
Over the altar in the small church, a beautiful and valuable polychrome terracotta Pietà is to be admired. The Pietà features seven figures inserted in a Della Robbia-style frame. At first, it was attributed to Cieco di Gambassi, but now scholars think it is by Santi Buglioni.
The objects exposed in the museum come from deconsecrated churches or from churches lacking in adequate security systems.
Museum of Sacred Art in San Casciano
The museum is located in the church of Santa Maria di Gesù, which was once a monastery of Benedictine nuns. Among the most important works of art exposed in the museum, a Madonna with Child by Lippo di Benivieni, a Coronation of the Virgin by Neri di Bicci, representations of Saint Roch, Saint Sebastian and Saint Anthony the Abbot by the Master of Tavarnelle (early 16th century), a beautiful wooden crucifix of attributable to the 14th-century Sienese school.
In the oratory the most valuable works of art are to be admired: an altar-cloth representing Saint Michael Archangel by Coppo di Marcovaldo, a Madonna with Child by Ambrogio Lorenzetti and other paintings by Jacopo del Casentino, Cenni di Francesco, Pier Dandini and others, together with a small group of sculptures. On the first floor, there is a section dedicated to golden objects and vestments.
Museum of the Treasure if the Church of Santa Maria in Impruneta
Established in 1987 as a result of the co-operation of various institutions (the Municipality, the Curia and Florence Superintendencies), the museum preserves a treasure of inestimable value made of golden vases, candlesticks and reliquaries: ex-votos given to the Madonna of Impruneta from the 14th to the early 20th century by members of the Medici family and of other Florentine patrician families, by the guilds and by other Florentine organisations.
In 1990 a section dedicated to miniated codes has been opened to the public. The codes are part of the liturgical heritage of the church of Santa Maria and date back to the 14th-16th centuries.
