According to some scholars, it was the writer Gabriele D`Annunzio who called the famous square Piazza dei Miracoli at the beginning of the 20th century. But even before that, many travellers who had stopped in Pisa and visited the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Monumental Cemetery and the Leaning Tower had called them a miracle.
That is why you cannot say you have seen Tuscany if you have not visited the town where Galileo Galilei was born, the town whose Piazza dei Miracoli was declared UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
Forget about hotels, aparthotels and bed and breakfast; for your stay in Pisa you should better rent a typical Tuscan villa, possibly with swimming pool and immersed in the charming surrounding countryside.
Because Pisa is a town on humane scale, which you can visit on foot or, if you prefer more challenging excursions, by bicycle.
Because if you have planned a tour of other Tuscan cities of art (Florence, Siena, Lucca and so on), you can leave your car in the garage or in the private car park of your holiday villa in Pisa and relax travelling by train.
But above all because renting a holiday Tuscan villa, you will always feel at home.
