Convent of Santa Maria dei Servi - The Convent of Santa Maria dei Servi, site of the Agora, and the immediately adjacent church were built in the 14th century by the Order of the Servants of Mary.
The architectural complex consists of two cloisters, a larger one with porticoes and columns, and a smaller cloister, next to the Oratory of San Lorenzo, built in 1480 (currently the conference room).
Maria Luisa of Bourbon returned the convent, closed under the Baiocchis, to the Lateran Canonry, until in 1866 it was once again given back to the State. In 1912, the Convent of the Servi was turned over to the commune of Lucca, where it became a retirement home, up to the time when the complex was completely rebuilt and inaugurated as the "Agorà" Cultural Center on May 17, 2002.
The square cloister dating back to the 15th century with its columns with marble bases and capitals, the double loggia and the water well are of great historic value. Inside one can admire the refectory and its door with the coat of arms of the Servi with their inscription, "Refectionis", carved in stone. The Oratory of San Lorenzo houses a beautiful altarpiece by 17th century artist Guidotti, depicting the Miracle of San Silao.
