Description

The house is situated in the tower of a medieval castle close to Gaiole in Chianti, just a few kilometres from Siena.

The castle was built around the year 1000 in a place that in the past was inhabited by the Etruscans and Romans. From the 13th century the castle was involved in the struggle between Florence and Siena that brought bloodshed to the Chianti countryside for centuries. The Republic of Siena conquered it in 1478, together with other castles in the area. The troops of emperor set the castle on fire in 1530 and the Florentines re-conquered it in 1555, when they definitively defeated Siena.

The castle stands on a hill and affords a charming 360-degree view of the surrounding countryside. The towers of Siena, the surrounding castles and Mount Amiata are seen in the distance.

The ideal accommodation for relaxing in the utmost peace and privacy, the castle is also an excellent departure point for visiting the castles and churches in the Chianti district, Florence, Siena, Arezzo and many other Tuscan tourist destinations.
A riding stable and a tennis club are a few kilometres from the castle.


The Outdoors

The tower is surrounded by a cypress-tree forest and a garden dotted with fruit trees.
The private swimming pool (5x10 m; depth: 1.20-2.10 m) that lies about 20 metres from the building is equipped with sun loungers and deck chairs. Next to the swimming pool is a gazebo furnished with a table and some chairs for having meals al fresco.


Accommodation

The tower is a three-storey building that sleeps 5+2 guests in 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 single bedroom and 1 double sofa bed, and has 1 bathroom and 1 half bathroom with bathtub.

On the ground floor are the entry hall, a dinette, the kitchen and a bathroom with shower.
The first floor consists of a large living room with a fireplace at the centre, a dining table and a double sofa bed.
The sleeping area is on the second floor, which composes of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a single bedroom and a half bathroom with bathtub.

The internal courtyard and a private terrace are accessed from the ground floor.
